II.2.4) Description of the procurement

Through the Glasgow City Region City Deal funding initiative, East Renfrewshire Council is progressing major infrastructure proposals to improve access between Barrhead and Newton Mearns along a 2km corridor associated with Aurs Road. The proposals encompass realigning two sections of road, replacing a weak bridge and car parking provision. The northern realignment section will include access for proposed new visitor facilities associated with Balgray Reservoir. A new inclusive pedestrian and cycling link, including a boardwalk overlooking Balgray Reservoir, will also be created along the corridor. Through a lead consultancy, the Council is seeking to appoint a multidisciplinary design team to undertake a comprehensive community based design project to support the on-going development of the Balgray Reservoir boardwalk. The outputs of the study will contribute to the preliminary design work associated with the boardwalk and directly support the subsequent technical design stage and the drafting of AIP documentation.

This tender is a Glasgow City Region City Deal funding initiative.

Under the terms of this contract the successful contractor will be required to offer/deliver Community Benefits. Full details of this requirement will be provided within the invitation to tender. The notional value of the contract equates to around 5 Community Benefit points (see the embedded guidance document within PCS-Tender). Specific Community Benefit Outcomes should be identified, based on the Community Benefits Menu. It is not intended to prescriptive however, for demonstration purposes, our preference would be for the winning contractor to engage with a local school OR employability group OR community group to provide a learning or work experience opportunity linked to the project.

If appointed. This should be supported with a Community Benefits Method Statement setting out how the benefits offered would be achieved.
