II.2.4) Description of the procurement

The aim of the “School Bike Library Pilot Project” is to provide free access to bicycles for Primary 5, 6 and 7 school children within the Glasgow boundary. Eligible children that wish to take a bicycle on loan will be required to become a member of the Bike Library Pilot Project. It is proposed that the bicycle shall be made available for members to take home for a period of up to 90 days.

The service provider will be required to;

- Provide all the bicycles, helmets and accessories, which shall remain the property of the council.

- Distribute the cycle fleet for to up to 14 primary schools on a quarterly basis with up to 30 bicycles available per school.

- Service the bicycle fleet following return from the proposed 90 day hire period

- Storage of bicycles, when not on loan

- Maintain a full service history of the bicycles

The council expects this pilot to run for a period of 3 years.
