Case Study - Maintaining service and growth

Led by its owner-directors, a Blantyre-based building services and maintenance company is growing a national reputation for delivering specialist services to keep its clients performing at their best around the clock.

ECG Facilities Services, has almost 20 years of experience in working with both the private and public sectors offering building maintenance, including full mechanical and electrical to support the most modern building design, water hygiene in line with latest health and safety regulations and a full managed service delivering a comprehensive, fully-integrated option to its clients.

With around 240 staff, and a £23 million turnover, the business has been highly successful maintaining year-on-year growth, bucking the trend by providing vital employment in the local area.

The business attributes it continued success down to a good mix of clients, with its public sector contracts playing a vital component to its business development strategy. ECG works with local authorities, various NHS authorities, further education establishments and housing associations across Scotland.

ECG has been a registered user of PCS since it was launched in 2008, regularly winning business through the service.  Most recently, ECG has successfully secured contracts such as the supply and installation of a biomass boiler for Stirling Council, a boiler and pressurisation unit maintenance contract for Glasgow Caledonian University through APUC, the installation of heating pumps at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Glasgow, the provision of Legionella prevention services to Viewpoint Housing Association, and the retention of the gas maintenance contract on behalf of Bield Housing Association.

Mark Stewart, PQQ coordinator for ECG Facilities Services, said: “Public sector contracts are very important to the success of the business. We have built up a reputation for delivering a reliable, value-for-money service to organisations across Scotland. PCS is a vital tool for the business – we can be assured we never miss out on an opportunity thanks to daily email alerts.

“Currently, ECG attributes around 25% of its turnover to public sector contracts, this is a figure we are hoping to increase with continued success through PCS.”
